There was a guy who went for an interview to a big MNC. He was a B.Tech graduate. He had actually took admission into a reputed university in India through us. At the time of the interview, HR asked him "Why did you choose to be an engineer? He continued, because your parents forced? Or did you got inspired from someone? Or you really had a passion? This guy got little panic and his mind just went blind for a second, because he hasn't expected a question like that since it was for an technical profile (HR can ask any random question at the time of the interview and that is a different case though!!), and so this guy answered he had a passion, so the end of the story. Anyways, in India according to a survey number of non-medical/ medical students choosing Engineering as their career has been increased from past few years.
We get in mind that Why do people choose engineering?!?! The ratio of students coming out from engineering colleges is more compare to the ratio of students from other courses. As soon as the Student finishes his/ her 10th or 12th they will be in confusion. The situation will be like when you line up on the crossroad trying to determine which road to take!! Every engineer faces the situation and says this after his/ her completion of engineering that "I was the same 4 years ago, when I was in an equal situation after my 12th. Ok atleast I was knowing I wanted to do engineering".
We see many students who comes for counselling to our B.Tech admission center in Delhi, they will be confused to opt branch in engineering? They ask questions like, Do I choose the branch depending on the demand and having worth or will that not matter and should i make my choice depending on my interest. What do I really want? Most of the time everyone comes up with their own advices. And many students develops a misconception and will be thinking only about it. One should really get a good advice, you know a career counselling.
Engineering is a delighting branch, it is really interesting and it’s challenging. You learn a lot aside from your study part. You learn technical subjects. You learn how to create a lamp, you learn how electricity flows, how do you get power and where does it comes from, you learn how a robot works just like a human, you learn creating a robot, you do learn about coding, you learn how to run a elevator, you learn how mobile software works, you learn how internet works, what actually a technology is behind internet, you learn how satellites are, how they work, their designs, their structure, what programming have made them to work, how electric signals are passed, you learn how telecommunication happens, you learn about bio-technology, you learn how to design a machine which diagnose the diseases and list goes on. The deeper you go, you start creating a world. Wow!! Isn't it Interesting?! Isn't it amazing?! Yes, it is.
Then there comes interest of choosing engineer as career. It is all about one's own decision and his/ her own interests to choose their career, students who chooses engineering as their subject of interest will be having wide opportunity to work with corporate companies in and out side of the country. In India there are many universities which offers Bachelor in Engineering/ Bachelor in Technology degree but candidates should make sure that the university is AICTE approved.
There are several branches in Engineering, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Information Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Bio-Technology Engineering and many more. Every stream have its own value. Generally what happens is the work profile will be different from what an engineer study in his/ her academic period!! Sounds weird but yes its the bitter truth!! This is very normal and common thing nowadays with every engineer. When it comes to placements in engineering, it depends on student marks and colleges which are linked with the companies. We see many engineers who don't have good merit in engineering trying off-campus placements. The struggle is everywhere and so the success.
Thus, choosing engineering is one's own option but make sure you achieve what you desire and be working hard. Determination towards anything will pay you High.
